Academic Upgrading - ACE

Academic Upgrading (ACE)

Do you want to go to college, or enter apprenticeship?  Do you need to improve your grades or get more credits first?  Do you need help researching options for school?  The ACE program can help!

ACE is an Academic Upgrading program run by Niagara College at the Fort Erie Native Friendship Centre.  This is a great option for people who (a) have no high school diploma, (b) have a high school diploma but need better grades to apply to college, or (c) are foreign-trained professionals who need to pursue further education in Canada.

ACE is a continuous-intake program, so new students can start at any time and work at their own pace.  Students must be 19 + (no age cap - we have grandparents in the class!), and ESL learners must be at Benchmark 6 or higher.  ACE is assignment-based with no exams, making this a good choice for learners with memory or anxiety challenges.

The ACE program is recognized at all Ontario public colleges for college entry.  Students who earn an ACE diploma can enter directly into apprenticeship.  This is a FREE program paid for by the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development.  Niagara College ACE English, Self Management, and Math classes are run September-June at the Fort Erie Native Friendship Centre, and Port Cares in Port Colborne.  Other subjects are available year-round at Niagara College’s main campuses.

To find out more for yourself or to refer interested clients, please contact Jessica at 905-871-8931 ext. 237 or email at literacy1@fenfc.org to set up an intake appointment and assessment date with Pauline, the Fort Erie ACE English Professor.  Please feel free to contact Pauline at phorton@niagaracollege.ca if you have any questions about the program.
