FORT ERIE NATIVE FRIENDSHIP CENTRE

Aboriginal Head Start
The Fort Erie Aboriginal Head Start Program is a free full day preschool and kindergarten school
readiness program for Indigenous children 27 months to 6 years of age. Licensed by the
Ministry of Education and funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada.
Fort Erie Aboriginal Head Start program incorporates a curriculum based on the
Haudenosaunee culture, while implementing the Kanyen'kehà:ka (Mohawk) language daily.
While also ensuring to reflect on the uniqueness of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit
communities and cultures. We strive to instill a sense of pride and confidence, a desire to
learn, opportunities for positive social and emotional development, while working with
parents/caregivers as their child's first teacher.
Aboriginal Head Start focuses on six components throughout all aspects of the program.
Culture & Language, Education & School Readiness, Parental Involvement, Health Promotion,
Nutrition & Social Support Services.
To register with Aboriginal Head Start and begin the application process, or for more information, please contact Danielle Longboat via phone or email.
