FORT ERIE NATIVE FRIENDSHIP CENTRE
Canadian Prenatal Nutrition Program (CPNP)
The Canadian Prenatal Nutrition Program (CPNP) supports Indigenous parents and families during pregnancy and the early months of their baby’s life. Rooted in community, the program offers a welcoming and supportive space for Indigenous families living off-reserve to gather, share food, learn together, and prepare for the arrival of a new baby!
CPNP recognizes that healthy pregnancies and healthy babies are supported not only through nutrition and information, but also through connection—to culture, to community, and to one another. Through workshops, special events, and weekly gatherings, participants have opportunities to learn about prenatal health, infant care, feeding their families, and caring for themselves during pregnancy and postpartum.
The program also creates space for cultural teachings that honour Indigenous knowledge and traditional ways of caring for babies and families. Elders, knowledge keepers, and community members may share teachings, stories, and hands-on activities that strengthen cultural connection and parenting confidence.
Participants may access:
-
Nutritious meals or food supports
-
Prenatal and parenting education
-
Support and guidance throughout pregnancy and early parenting
-
Cultural teachings and traditional parenting practices
-
Workshops and community events
-
Referrals and connections to other community supports
CPNP is a place where families can build relationships, share experiences, and support one another. By bringing together food security, knowledge, and culture, the program helps parents feel confident, connected, and supported as they welcome their babies into the community!
